Namaste, this is my very first note on this blog that my twin daughters helped me start – they felt that with all the stories and facts of life that I share passionately that I ought to write a book – okay then we settled for this blog, as a starter.
Today, we celebrated Rima’s (my wife) mother’s life on the first anniversary of her heavenly abode. There were so many moments that flashed across during the religious bhajans that were sung by this lovely group in Mumbai – starting with the first time I met my wife’s mom when we were dating – back in early June 1985. She was yet to turn 45 and I had yet to be 23 – it was summer break after having finished my 1st year at the MBA school in Austin, TX. I will not forget her beautiful smile. Before we finished the coffee meeting at Sea Lounge at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, I knew that Mom had approved of me for her daughter, and that is where my love of my better half’s mother began. I was fortunate to have had her in my life for 34+ years through Nov 20, 2019.
That we have only 1 life is a fact that we are never remiss about – yet, I see us all wrapped up in small stuff – our egos, our beliefs, our opinions. They all seem larger than the size of the Universe. Yet, if we were to reflect on one simple fact – that we are each only 1 in 7-8 billion humans on earth and that our Earth is a tiny thing in the Universe – I hope we would all realize that at the end of the day, we are here as guests on Earth. And the best we can do is try and leave this beautiful mother Earth that God has bestowed upon us with this one life, slightly better than when we arrived here. We do not get too attached to our hotel rooms where we spend few days – if we treat life similarly, we would make more positive impact and leave this beautiful place, better.
Life truly can be long if we hold grudges, have large egos, be opinionated – however if we accept His ways and know that we are not even a cog in the wheel, we will find that life is very short. My brother, who I respectfully addressed as Baadshah (i.e. King), also began his heavenly abode last year. While he lived for 67 years and my Mom lived for 79 years, we all know life was truly short for both.
Let’s love one another and let’s trust each other.
Wahe Guru! (This phrase has a very deep meaning – in summary, it means “I am grateful to Him”)

It was a great initiative to let the people know your thoughts.
We have to cut and shape our life from what we have got by default.
We have lived majority of our life, it is now to repay certain things to Nature, the Community the Country from where we have got lots of things.
Searching God, relishing old memories is the next thing we all are looking into.

Ketan, so nice to hear from you in Charlotte, NC – thank you for your kind thoughts and condolences – while 2020 has been a challenging year for most, for us, 2019 was a challenging year having lost my Baadshah of a brother, Ramesh Sobhani in Aug 2019 and Rima and I visited BOM to show our final respects and 3 months later losing Rima’s mom within hours of us landing in BOM again – those 24-hour long journeys in both instances seemed to be the longest !
